Doug Magnowski, DVM
Born and raised in the Cariboo, Dr. Magnowski graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. He is passionate about veterinary medicine and providing the broadest scope of quality veterinary services possible for our region, along with his team of dedicated, caring veterinary health professionals. Dr. Magnowski began his career in Williams Lake in 1987. In 1995, he and his wife, Candice, established Canyon Valley Veterinary Services which evolved into the Animal Care Hospital of Williams Lake in 2000, then expanded to include the Animal Care Hospital of Quesnel in 2002. In his spare time, Dr. Magnowski enjoys spending time with his family.
Jenny Thompson, DVM
Dr. Thompson graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. During veterinary college and after graduation, she worked at the Thompson Veterinary Clinic in Thompson, Manitoba. In 1995, Dr. Thompson moved to Williams Lake, where she worked for the Williams Lake Veterinary Hospital and the Central Cariboo Animal Hospital, as well as starting her own house-call practice. After continuing the house call practice for a further four years in Fraser Lake, she joined the Animal Care Hospital of Williams Lake part-time in 2004 and began full-time in 2009. She enjoys small animal medicine and surgery, and works primarily with dogs and cats. Dr. Thompson spends most of her non-working time with her husband and three boys, their two dogs and two cats.
Bianca Scheidt, DVM
Dr. Scheidt was born in Germany and grew up in the small village of Michelbach. She was always interested in working with animals, and this led her to training as an animal health technologist. After her apprenticeship, she enrolled in the Veterinary University of Leipzig, Germany, and she graduated as a veterinarian in 2003. Dr. Scheidt has always loved traveling, and this brought her to the Animal Care Hospital in 2002 as a student, then permanently to Quesnel in 2003. Dr. Scheidt began her Canadian veterinary career as an animal health technologist at our Quesnel hospital, eventually becoming the hospital manager. In 2006, she married Bernie, a Canadian. And in 2008, Dr. Scheidt completed her Canadian qualifications and shifted into her role as a veterinarian on the Animal Care Hospital team.
Amy Jordan, BVM+S, MRCVS
Dr. Amy Jordan moved to Williams Lake from Nova Scotia in August 2014, with her husband Braden and young son, Finlay, to work with the wonderful veterinary team at the Animal Care Hospital. Amy completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Western Ontario. While studying, Amy played on the varsity Women’s Rugby team where she won Provincial, National, and World Championships. Subsequently, Amy graduated with distinction from the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2011. After graduating, Amy completed a one year Equine Surgical Internship at the Caledon Equine Hospital in Ontario. Since then, Amy has been working in mixed animal practice. Amy is involved in all aspects of veterinary medicine provided by the Animal Care Hospital, with a special interest in horses. Most of all, Amy enjoys working together with clients to provide the best care possible for their “other” family members.
